Peer support volunteers- Crisis sanctuaries

About you:

We are looking for volunteers to join us to help with the running of the crisis sanctuaries at various locations with shifts between 3:30pm- 11:00pm on any day of the week Monday-Sunday depending on the location.
We are looking for people with excellent communication skills who has lived experience with their own mental health.
Someone who is able to understand the issues our service users may face and are able to be compassionate and put people at ease.
We would like volunteers to join us to be a friendly face and help to put people at ease when they arrive at the crisis sanctuary.

You will work as part of a team within the Sanctuary environment.
You will need excellent interpersonal communication skills.
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding and empathy, providing advice and emotional support to individuals.
You will have the ability to deal effectively and calmly with challenging situations.
You must have a lived experience of mental health.

The role:

Nottinghamshire Mind in partnership with Framework and Turning point offer a drop in Crisis sanctuary which offers access to mental health support out of hours. You will be working closely with individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis, psychological and emotional distress.

The vacancies are for various locations:
The Hub – Framework
Chilwell – Notts Mind
Mansfield – Notts Mind
Worksop – Notts Mind
Please note you will not be required to travel as you will only be based in one location.

The service operation times and days at each location are as follows
Mansfield is open 7 days a week 3:30 pm -9:00pm
Chilwell is open 7 days a week 6pm to 11pm
Worksop is open Wednesday and Sunday 5pm-10pm
Nottingham wellbeing hub is open 7 days a week 6pm-11pm

We require volunteers for a minimum of one evening per week on the day of your choosing for 4-5 hours between 3:30 pm and 11:00 pm depending on the location.
You will be supporting people face to face at our Crisis sanctuaries, giving them a warm welcome, greeting them at the door, signing them in, making them a drink and engaging with them until the support worker is free.
This role would suit someone who is looking to gain an insight and understanding into how the crisis sanctuaries work and gain experience.
