Placements
In the current job market, employers are looking for more than a great degree. You also need to demonstrate key skills for the workplace.
At Nottinghamshire Mind, we are able to offer placements in a number of areas across the organisation.
Please note: there are currently no student placement positions available.
What can a placement offer?
Placements offer a form of work experience which is integrated as part of a degree or other qualification.
During a placement, students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned from their studies, in real life scenarios within a workplace. The opportunity allows students to gain valuable experience to support their studies, as well as personal development and future employment.
When applying for a position it is important to remember that placements and volunteers are both unpaid, and placements are managed through the education provider.
Develop your potential
Placements can help you to:
- Strengthen your CV and LinkedIn profile with essential work experience.
- Build your network and wider understanding of the working environment.
- Forge links with employers which could turn into career opportunities when you graduate.
- Apply study skills in practical environments and research for your dissertation.
Check with your education provider
Many colleges & universities run academic modules with placements built in. Some places of higher education may also run an exclusive placements programme of term-time opportunities for both undergraduates and postgraduates across all years of study.
How we can help
At Nottinghamshire Mind we aim to offer placement opportunities for people, at either college or university, who are studying for a degree or other formal qualification. Some of our placements will provide support directly to service delivery & development, others could support operational functions.
We may also recruit placement students to support us with specific project work, which we will often advertise through local universities and colleges.
We’re all about finding the right people for the right opportunities.
Please note that we only have a limited number of placement spaces available at any one time. Availability will depend on the number of placement students we are currently hosting and the types of role being sought.
“I have developed some really important skills during my placement. Things like professional boundaries, self-confidence, dealing with safeguarding concerns, administration and technical skills and so much personal and professional growth. I have been given the freedom to explore, adapt and develop in my role – whilst still being completely supported and given any guidance when needed. I have also learned so much about the mental health sector and the charity sector.
I’m sad to finish my placement but very excited for the future.”
