Setting up your fundraising page
Setting up a fundraising page on Just Giving is probably one of the simplest ways to collect sponsorship and donations from family, friends and colleagues – or anyone who is interested in your event or challenge.
Our tips on creating a successful fundraising page:
1. Make it Personal
This is the first thing people will see on your fundraising page, so try to make it catchy and engaging. Tell people why you have chosen Nottinghamshire Mind to fundraise for and what you’ll be doing.
People are more likely to engage and contribute when they have an insight into you and why you have chosen to hold your event or take on your challenge (whatever that may be). People are interested in people, so make it interesting and heartfelt for the best chance of success.
2. Set a Target
How much would you like to raise? By setting a challenging target you could inspire people to get involved. But also remember that setting a fundraising target is just a way to create momentum and give you and supporters something to aim for. We are immensely grateful for all donations – every single one makes a difference.
3. Use Pictures to Tell Your Story
Pictures can do a lot of the talk for you. Take pictures of your journey, particularly if it’s a physical challenge and you’re putting in lots of training. Give sneak previews of what might be happening at your event. Take some short videos along the way. People will love to see how you’re getting on and sharing images will help keep interest levels high.
4. Keep People Informed
Give regular updates to keep people in the loop about your fundraiser. It will keep them engaged and informed about your plans and let them know how you are getting on – and even how close you are to achieving your target!
Don’t forget to share how your plans are progressing in the run up to your event or challenge. And afterwards to thank your supporters’ for their fantastic support.
And think about including an option to Gift Aid. If your sponsors are UK tax payers, make sure to ask them to tick the Gift Aid box when they donate. The taxman will then add 25% to their donations at no extra cost to them!
5. Find Out Your Total
The final step is working out how much you raised! Remember to include any cash donations, as well as anything received by cheque etc so that people can see how you got to your target. Everyone at Nottinghamshire Mind will be so grateful for your support and generous donation. Every penny raised goes on our mental health and wellbeing services, to help people in need of our support throughout Nottinghamshire. We think you are amazing and applaud all your efforts!
If you have any questions or need a bit more support, please don’t hesitate to contact our team at fundraising@nottinghamshiremind.org.uk – we are always happy to help!
