About you:

Are you a great listener with strong communication skills? Do you enjoy working with groups and fostering an inclusive environment? If so, we are looking for a dedicated volunteer to support our initiative promoting mental wellbeing through exercise.

This role requires reliability and a basic understanding of mental health, particularly the impact of physical inactivity on mental well-being. While no expert running skills are needed, you should be comfortable participating in exercise activities.

Key responsibilities include recording attendance when necessary, facilitating comfortable and appropriate conversations, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring a safe and welcoming space for all participants. You will also be responsible for reporting any concerns to staff and applying safeguarding measures where required.

The role:

Forming part of our #Well programme of community services, we are excited to offer a beginners running group in partnership with Runspire, which will be running each Friday Morning, the run starts at 11:00am.

Peer Support Volunteers in our #Well Community will help to create a supportive community environment in which people can hold general every day conversations, providing and encouraging positive communication between people, and helping people to create stronger connections.
Volunteers are encouraged to signpost people to appropriate services should they require individual personal support.

The volunteer is required to support the running lead throughout the session.

The volunteer is required to support and encourage attendees and be a listening ear.
Encourage the group to engage in conversation and monitor group conversations.
The volunteer will be required to signpost to any other relevant services for further mental health support clients may require.

Interview Process:

  • If we think you are suitable for the role, we will be in touch to organise a time & date for an interview
  • The interview will be an opportunity for us to have a chat with you and find out more about why you would like to be a Running group support volunteer
  • We can also answer any more questions you might have about the role and the commitment, and find out how we can best support you in the role
